Over time, cracks of various sizes appear in different parts of buildings. This is due to several reasons, particularly certain errors made during the construction and repair process, and natural factors beyond human control.
Causes of cracks in walls:
· Cracks can appear in walls due to errors made by craftsmen during the application of plaster, stucco, and paint. This can be remedied by repairing the wall and then applying silicone silk matte or semi-matte paint.
· Applying paint without priming the surface and improper painting techniques lead to paint peeling and cracking on the wall.
· Slamming doors and windows can also crack the plaster on the wall.
Repairing cracks
Before starting repairs, it should be investigated on which surface the crack is located and what caused it. If the crack in the wall is very thin, it can be covered with plaster; if it's due to paint, it can be covered with paint. Cracks of 1-2 cm can be filled with polyurethane sealant. Satin plaster is used for repairing thin, fine cracks. (White plaster finish can be used.) For filling holes and cracks the size of a hand or fist, plaster stucco is ideal. (White plaster primer can be used.) Small cracks in walls can also be covered with ready-made putties.
